CHICAGO / SOUND, COMMUNITY & COFFEE

The city made a sound.
We made it a morning ritual.

Before house was a global language, it was people finding one another on a Chicago dance floor. Chicago House Mix is our coffee dedication to that spirit: curious, creative, and better shared.

01 / CHICAGO, 1977

A room where you could belong.

A record starts. One person moves, then another. The city outside keeps its own time; inside, the dance floor finds something shared.

In 1977, Robert Williams opened the Warehouse in Chicago and brought Frankie Knuckles from New York to its DJ booth. The club became an important gathering place for Black and gay dancers. Its history belongs to those communities, whose freedom and creativity helped shape a sound that would travel far beyond the room.

At 206 South Jefferson Street, the address mattered. So did the people: the promoter, the DJ, and the dancers who made a night together. The building became a Chicago landmark in 2023.

02 / A SOUND BUILT TOGETHER

One more record. A little more room.

House did not arrive fully formed with a single needle drop. Knuckles shaped long journeys through disco, soul, and dance records. Mixing and editing could stretch a familiar song into a new experience. Across Chicago, DJs, dancers, producers, radio, and independent records helped the music develop and circulate.

The name “house” is closely associated with the Warehouse. But a whole musical culture grew beyond that one venue: a conversation between what a DJ played and how a room answered. Hear that history as a movement of people, rather than the work of one person alone.

03 / OUR DEDICATION

Chicago in the name. Coffee in the cup.

Chicago House Mix is dedicated to Chicago house music and its culture of movement, imagination, and connection. We carry that inspiration into an everyday ritual: put on a record, brew a cup, and make space for whatever comes next.

This is a medium-roast blend of coffees from Central and South America, with a medium body and a profile of sweet chocolate, roasted nuts, and mild citrus. Chicago is the cultural inspiration for the name; the beans are grown elsewhere.

A late-night idea deserves a good morning. That is the connection we celebrate, from the first track to the first sip.

04 / PRESS PLAY. START BREWING.

Give the morning a little rhythm.

Pick a record you want to hear all the way through. Grind what you need. Start with your favorite method, then adjust your brew to taste. The coffee is the backdrop; the time you make for it is yours.
